Postdoctoral Researcher in Mucosal Immunology

Overview:
A postdoctoral research position is available in the laboratory of Milena Bogunovic, M.D., Ph.D. at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Our research focuses on the role of mononuclear phagocytes in mucosal immunology and neuroimmune interactions in the gastrointestinal tract to understand the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on the dynamics and anatomy of immune interactions in the intestinal tissue of mice and humans using multicolor flow cytometry, fluorescent confocal and two-photon microscopy, and bulk and single cell transcriptomics.
- Develop and implement new research techniques and methods to advance our understanding of mucosal immunology and neuroimmune interactions.
- Collaborate with other researchers in the laboratory and department to achieve research goals.
Qualifications:
- A terminal degree (MD, PhD, or MD/PhD) and 0-2 years of laboratory post-graduate experience.
- Strong expertise in multicolor flow cytometry and/or strong expertise in tissue imaging and two-photon microscopy.
- Experience working with mice and a record of productive research including publications in major peer-reviewed journals.
- Previous experience in the fields of mononuclear phagocyte biology, mucosal immunology, and/or infectious immunology is preferred but not required.
