Critical Care APRN/PA Job Description

Cleveland Clinic Foundation is seeking a highly skilled Critical Care APRN/PA to join our team at Mercy Hospital. As a member of our Critical Care Advanced Practice Team, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and collaborating with our attending intensivists. Your expertise will be essential in caring for patients with life-threatening illnesses and developing a comprehensive care plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough medical histories and perform complete physical examinations to establish a patient's current health status.
  • Develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan, including daily examinations and chart notes.
  • Manage patients with complex, acute, critical, and chronic health conditions, requiring continuous vigilance and high-intensity medical/surgical interventions.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure quality patient care and continuity of care.
  • Participate in medical team rounds, data analysis, and quality monitoring to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the electronic medical record and utilize it effectively in patient care.
  • Perform various procedures, including blood draws, designated IV starts, thoracentesis, and paracentesis, as directed by the physician.
  • Provide education and answer routine questions from patients regarding their disease, treatment, and related health topics.

Requirements:

  • APRN: Must be a nationally certified licensed healthcare provider with a Master's degree in nursing and a current license as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the applicable state.
  • PA: Must be a nationally certified licensed healthcare provider with a Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies and/or applicable state license through the State Medical Board for certificate to practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required based on the work setting.
  • Must be privileged by CCF's Credentialing Board and have a Physician Supervision Agreement.
