Position Overview

The Mechanical Engineer VAR will be responsible for the investigation, analysis, and reconstruction of vehicular incidents. This role involves examining failures in vehicle systems such as brakes, steering, and engines. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting detailed analyses of single and multiple vehicle collisions, including speed assessments and roadway conditions.
  • Preparing and presenting visual aids such as diagrams and charts to illustrate findings.
  • Documenting evidence and preparing comprehensive reports for litigation purposes.
  • Performing inspections of various transportation modes to determine the cause of failures.
Essential Responsibilities

  • Utilizing engineering analysis and CAE tools to reconstruct vehicular accidents.
  • Analyzing collision scene evidence and creating forensic maps of accident sites.
  • Evaluating damage and performing speed calculations based on physical evidence.
  • Assessing automotive and mechanical components to identify failure origins.
  • Conducting product liability and safety analyses.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is mandatory.
  • Advanced degrees (Master's or Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering are preferred.
  • Experience ranging from 2 to over 10 years in the field is necessary.
Skills and Competencies

  • Proven experience in vehicle accident reconstruction.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Excellent analytical skills and independent judgment.
  • Capability to provide expert testimony when required.
  • Attention to detail during inspections and assessments.
Physical and Travel Requirements

This position requires physical activity including standing, walking, and inspecting vehicles. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds is necessary.

Travel may be required, up to 25% for local and regional assignments.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is between $100,000 and $180,000, based on qualifications and experience.
