Job Title: Senior Electrical Distribution System Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Distribution System Engineer to join our team at Karma Automotive. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing vehicle wiring harnesses, electronic modules, and electrical components.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop automotive wire harnesses, busbars, electronic modules, and electrical components.
  • Translate system requirements and device transmittal information into logical and physical sub-system schematics.
  • Design, prototype, document, and support mixed signal electrical components.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including design and technical specifications, test plans, and user manuals related to components owned.
  • Work with purchasing department on creating RFQs and leading technical reviews for responses.
  • Manage exceptional relationship and communication with associated suppliers and service providers.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical guidance and expertise to junior engineers.
  • Review CAD 3D models and 2D harness/component prints for accuracy.
  • Provide technical support to Karma manufacturing plant for various build issues to support vehicle delivery schedules.
  • Work with Karma quality personnel to resolve component manufacturing and vehicle assembly issues.
  • Cross-functional support of system integration, performance testing, and failure root cause analysis.
  • Create, review, and approve component DFMEA/PFMEA with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Create and/or approve component DV/PV test compliance in accordance with vehicle DVP&R.
  • Write change requests, conduct design reviews, and release information in company eBOM systems.
  • Support SQA engineers in completing supplier APQP and PPAP submissions.
  • Support homologation compliance and certifications for RF emissions, safety, and vehicle regulations.
  • Provide program and functional group status reports and 8D corrective action analysis.
  • Conduct coordination meetings to track the product development and delivery status.
  • Stay current with industry technology developments, regulations, and standards.
  • Support logistics and inventory management to build dates to deliver high-quality components.
  • Visit supplier plants to review manufacturing processes and conduct first-piece signoff.
Requirements:
  • Minimum bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years Automotive or Aerospace related DRE experience at either OEM or Tier-1.
  • Knowledge of industry testing and design requirements for electrical & electronic components.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
  • Experience with 3D (CATIA V5, 3DX, NX) and 2D (Capital Harness, L Dorado) software applications.
  • Knowledge of DFMEA and DVP&R.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable.
Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing their job in an indoor office environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may spend approximately 60% (excluding breaks and meal periods) of time in an office environment and 40% of the time in the non-office setting (garage and/or laboratory setting).

When working in the non-office setting, it requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including (but not limited to) safety shoes (unless staying outside of the working areas), bump caps, and/or safety goggles frequently.
