Key Responsibilities
  • Medication Therapy Management: Interpret and evaluate medication prescriptions, ensuring safe and effective medication use, dose, route, and schedule for administration.
  • Prescription Review and Fulfillment: Review prescriptions, suggest alternate therapies as appropriate, and prepare clinical intervention documentation.
  • Medication Dispensing and Counseling: Prepare and dispense medications in accordance with professional practice guidelines, state pharmacy laws, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Advise healthcare providers and patients regarding medication contents, therapeutic action, utilization, and potential adverse reactions or interactions.
  • Medication Safety and Control: Control the disposition of narcotics, other controlled substances, and dangerous drugs, adhering to state and federal regulations.
  • Training and Development: Serve as a training resource for new employees, assist in evaluating their progress, and mentor pharmacy students in applicable educational experiential training programs.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.S. Pharmacy) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree.
  • Licensure: Current Pharmacist licensure (or eligible to reciprocate) in the State of Pennsylvania.
  • Certification: Immunization certification through an accredited organization (American Pharmacists Association (APhA)).
  • Healthcare Provider: A healthcare provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs.

  • Previous Retail Pharmacy Experience: Previous experience in retail pharmacy settings is preferred.
