Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Correctional Officer. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment within our correctional facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct supervision of inmates within the facility, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Conduct regular security checks to prevent unauthorized activities and infractions of rules.
  • Search inmates for contraband and maintain accurate records of their activities.
  • Process inmates through the intake process, including receiving and processing their property.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including controlling combative or hostile inmates.
  • Document inmate activities, including visitation, phone calls, and incidents.
  • Supervise inmates and trustee-inmates work crews.
  • Conduct head counts to ensure all inmates are present.
  • Inspect facility conditions to ensure security and prevent escapes.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain a TCOLE Jailer's License within the required time frame.
  • Current and valid TX driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Ability to work in a hostile environment and project a professional image at all times.
  • Exceptional skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with County staff, inmates, police departments, and the public.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a 24-hour/7-day confined, security facility. The work environment is fast-paced and requires the ability to make sound judgment decisions in emergency situations.

Physical Demands

This position requires standing, walking, sitting, and using hands to find, handle, or feel objects. The employee must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly.
