Thomas Edison State University is seeking a highly qualified Associate Dean to join the leadership team of the Heavin School of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and growth of the school's programs, with a focus on meeting statewide, national, and global industry and organization needs.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the general administration of all academic aspects in the school, including curriculum development and implementation, recruitment, retention, and strategy development.
- Organize, plan, and coordinate research and development activities for the Heavin School of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Education.
- Work as a liaison across the university, collaborating with other schools, programs, coordinators, and administrative offices to facilitate the goals and objectives of the school and university.
- Develop and implement mentor orientation and communications.
- Recruit, approve, and evaluate the quality of consulting mentors for Social Sciences, Humanities, and Education.
- Participate in outreach and the development of strong alliances with the external community.
- Assist with marketing and recruitment initiatives to foster the growth of the school's programs.
- Collaborate with the Office of Strategic Partnership, Office of Military Education, Office of Enrollment Management, and other appropriate offices to develop and execute enrollment management strategies and initiatives that promote degree programs to various constituencies.
- Represent the school with internal and external audiences through committees, meetings, and conferences.
- Assist the Dean in the supervision of the school's Assistant Deans and other administrative staff.
- Possession of a doctorate degree in an academic discipline in an area of Social Sciences, Humanities, or Education offered by the university.
- A minimum of 6 years' experience as faculty or/and administrator in a higher education environment and relevant workforce experience.
- Experience in developing and managing degree and certificates programs, working with students, and managing the instructional staff is essential.
- Knowledge of the current issues, trends, and opportunities in Social Sciences, Humanities, and/or Education, as well as the philosophy and practices of higher education and familiarity with the standards, curriculum, and policies pertaining to adult learning.
- Ability to work with professional and support staff, and the community at large, as well as work at a distance with students, mentors, and other professionals.
- Familiarity and experience with CAEP accreditation.
- Knowledge of the New Jersey K-12 landscape is highly desirable.
- Experience in developing and managing degree and certificates programs, working with students, and managing the instructional staff is essential.
- Ability to use technology to communicate, synthesize information, and prepare reports.
