Job Summary

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a highly skilled Anesthesia Technician to join our team. As a key member of the anesthesia care team, you will assist the anesthesia provider in providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the anesthesia provider in preparing patients for surgery, including setting up and applying non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring equipment.
  • Help with the setup, application, and assistance of anesthesia equipment, including induction of anesthesia, fiberoptic intubation, and emergency C-sections.
  • Participate in problem identification and resolution, development of policies and procedures, quality improvement, and staff development.
  • Utilize sterile technique to set up and assist with placement of invasive monitoring equipment, including arterial lines, central venous pressure lines, and PA catheters.
  • Coordinate patient monitoring equipment availability with PACU and Critical Care units.
  • Assemble anesthesia equipment and supplies needed for general, regional, and local anesthesia.
  • Assist anesthesia providers with patient preparation, electrode placement, and use of ultrasound/nerve stimulator devices.
  • Remove and dispose of supplies and equipment following procedures.
  • Coordinate with Pharmacy for out-of-stock drugs and maintain inventory of disposable and non-disposable equipment.
  • Perform routine checkout and upkeep of anesthesia equipment and inspect for damages.
  • Coordinate with Biomedical Engineering for maintenance and repair of anesthesia equipment.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an Accredited program in Anesthesia Technology with an AS degree or certified by the American Society of Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) as a Technologist.
  • License, Certification, Registration.
  • Ability to lift 45 lbs of equipment from an overhead position on a daily basis.
  • Keyboarding skills and ability to use computer software applications, including the Health Connect system.
  • Manual dexterity and mechanical ability.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and work efficiently and competently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in a Cardiac OR and/or Level 1 trauma center.
  • Certificate of training for Drager, GE, or other anesthesia delivery systems.
