Job Summary

We are seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team at St. Luke's University Health Network. As a key member of our occupational therapy department, you will work closely with licensed occupational therapists to provide high-quality care to patients of all ages.

Responsibilities
  • Administer occupational therapy treatment plans as developed by licensed occupational therapists.
  • Facilitate patient ROM, strength coordination, use of adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications to enhance functional mobility and safety.
  • Communicate effectively with therapy supervisors, clinical coordinators, and other healthcare professionals to plan comprehensive patient care.
  • Observe, record, and report patient responses to treatment and any changes in condition to physicians and clinical supervisors.
  • Document patient care and outcomes in a timely, accurate, and legible manner, adhering to agency policies and directives.
  • Plan for patient discharge in conjunction with licensed occupational therapists.
  • Instruct other healthcare team members on occupational therapy concepts, including activities of daily living.
  • Apply infection control and universal precautions to prevent contamination and disease transmission.
  • Accept clinical assignments consistent with education and competence to care for patients.
  • Meet mandatory continuing education requirements.
  • Provide orientation to new orientees on occupational therapy scope of practice.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all materials handled within the network and proper release of information.
  • Comply with network and departmental policies regarding employee, patient, and environmental safety.
  • Demonstrate the Network's Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers.
  • Demonstrate performance improvement in clinical care, customer service, operational systems, and safety.
  • Demonstrate financial responsibility and accountability through efficient use of resources.
  • Comply with network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.
  • Demonstrate competency in patient assessment, treatment, and communication appropriate to patient age.
Requirements
  • Current license to practice as an occupational therapy assistant in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Associate degree in occupational therapy from an accredited school.
  • Preferably one or two years of experience as a certified occupational therapy assistant.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to patients, families, physicians, and related persons.
  • Ability to exercise tact and good judgment in dealing with people.
  • Ability to prepare neat, timely, accurate, and concise records and reports.
  • Ability to accept and utilize supervision.
Working Conditions

This position requires the use of your own private vehicle for network business. You must have a valid driver's license issued by the applicable state of residency, as well as evidence of auto liability insurance, which must have at least the state-minimum coverage limits. Insurance must be maintained at all times while being employed in this position.

Physical and sensory requirements include exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, or 10-to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Constantly standing and walking. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for medium, light, and sedentary work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor.
