POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the guidance of the Principal, the Substitute Principal undertakes responsibilities aligned with the duties of a Principal. This role is particularly focused on overseeing the operational aspects of educational programming and ensuring the general supervision of students throughout the school day and during extracurricular activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Become well-acquainted with all responsibilities associated with the Principal's role.
- Uphold standards of acceptable behavior among students.
- Support the Principal in communication efforts with staff and the community.
- Conduct evaluations of both certificated and classified personnel.
- Facilitate collaboration with feeder schools.
- Oversee the testing program.
- Assume leadership of the school in the Principal's absence.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of contemporary practices in teaching and curriculum development.
- Proficiency in communication skills and personnel management.
- Understanding of evaluation methods and techniques.
- Ability to supervise staff and collaborate with students and the community to optimize opportunities for both.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Completion of an accredited program in education and administration.
- Master's degree or higher with a focus on elementary administration.
- A minimum of five years of successful experience in elementary education.
- Prior administrative experience is preferred.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
Must possess a valid California credential authorizing service as a principal.
