Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Algorithm Engineer to join our team in Alameda, CA. As a key member of our Abbott Diabetes Care Division, you will be responsible for participating in the algorithm development of new products and assisting with finding solutions to product development problems of defined scope.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in algorithm development synthesis incorporating mathematical models and optimize design processes, primarily in Matlab.
  • Perform discovery analysis to advance knowledge relevant to sensor algorithm development.
  • Participate in product definition, system architecture, requirements writing, requirements management, requirements analysis, risk analysis, hazard analysis, product test and evaluation, System V & V, and/or design control documentation.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and document test results.
  • Participate in integration of analytical and performance related elements with software, hardware, and electronics system components.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or scientific discipline.
  • Masters degree or PhD ideal. 6 yrs product development experience in Engineering or physical science.
  • Solid knowledge in mathematical modeling of dynamic systems (e.g. nonlinear differential equation, state-space continuous & discrete time domain model, etc.), ideally in the area of metabolic analytes (e.g. glucose, ketone, lactate, and their interactions).
  • Strong knowledge in empirical methods of system identification and/or algorithm synthesis, preferably in the area of glucoregulatory systems.
  • Good working knowledge of Matlab. Solid knowledge of general engineering/science principles.
