Role Responsibilities
As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department Float Pool, your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting thorough patient assessments and formulating care plans.
- Implementing and evaluating care strategies while supervising non-licensed personnel.
- Floating to various St. David's HealthCare facilities as required.
- Documenting patient assessments and care outcomes accurately.
- Providing educational resources to patients and their families regarding treatments.
- Administering medications and performing necessary medical procedures in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Communicating effectively with the Charge Nurse and medical staff regarding patient status changes.
- Ensuring continuity of care through detailed reporting to the incoming shift.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- At least 2 years of experience in an Emergency Department setting.
- An Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
- A current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or a Compact Registered Nursing License (Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification as required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENCP) certification.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification within 12 months of hire.
- NIH Stroke Certification within 60 days of hire.
