Pediatric and Adult Critical Care Nurse

As a Pediatric and Adult Critical Care Nurse at HexaQuEST Health, Inc., you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced acute care environment. Your primary focus will be on administering nursing care to patients in a safe, efficient, and courteous manner, using proper nursing procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Complete a thorough head-to-toe physical assessment and social assessment of patients upon admission.
- Develop and implement a written care plan upon admission, reviewing and updating it daily to ensure the best possible outcomes.
- Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy, non-invasive blood pressure, and oximetry, as well as evaluate existing drainage systems in place.
- Deliver nursing care via the nursing process, including assessment, problem identification, planning, interventions, and evaluation.
- Re-assess patients to identify progress and trends that require intervention or reporting to the physician.
- Assist patients, physicians, and peers in determining long- and short-range goals for patients and formulating a plan to work towards those goals.
- Assist Critical Care RNs with telemetry monitoring and maintain knowledge of basic arrhythmias.
- Operate and manage equipment, including IV pumps, PCA pumps, feeding pumps, telemetry monitors, CPAP and Bi-PAP machines, defibrillators, and Doppler.
- Provide routine patient care, perform blood draws from central lines, interpret computerized monitor trends, and administer medications.
- Maintain knowledge of patients' status during hospitalization and work with the healthcare team to adjust and improve approach to recovery.
- Utilize critical thinking skills for appropriate patient interventions.
- Carry out and document medical and nursing treatment, nursing care, interventions, and outcomes in a timely and accurate manner.
- Complete documentation necessary for transition between statuses, including to swing bed.
- Assist physicians in patient care, make rounds, assist with procedures, provide progress reports on patient status, and ensure that orders are carried out.
- Follow procedure for medication administration and narcotics control, utilizing EMAR, scans, and two sources of patient ID before all medications and procedures.
- Assume professional responsibility for ensuring patient care is of the highest standards possible.
- Communicate questions about appropriateness of medical or nursing care through the chain of command, as needed, utilizing the SBAR form.
- Ensure that consents are obtained when needed, and that all records are signed and legally complete.
- Ensure completion of time-out procedures as necessary.
- Complete incident and error forms when necessary.
- Assess patients' learning needs, educate patients and families, and treat patients and their families with respect and dignity.
- Practice within Nursing Standards of Practice and follow standards of patient care and CRH Policies and Procedures.
This is a Quick Start position with 12-hour NIGHTS shifts. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Pediatric and Adult Critical Care Nurse and be currently active with a valid state license. Bilingual skills are not required, but proficiency in English is necessary. The EMR system used is EPIC. Holiday coverage is required.
