Job Title: Research Associate in Environmental Sciences

The Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Virginia invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our dynamic and collaborative research environment. This position will be in the lab of Professor Scott Doney.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on computational ocean biogeochemistry projects. The successful candidate will be part of a team of scientists working on coastal and open-ocean biochemical projects, focusing on the response of ecosystems to natural variability, climate change, and direct human perturbations.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct data analysis, numerical model development, and satellite remote sensing
  • Present research findings at national scientific conferences
  • Publish in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals
  • Mentor undergraduates and graduate students in the laboratory
Qualifications:
  • PhD in Oceanography or a related discipline
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of advanced data analysis, numerical modeling, or satellite remote sensing methods for marine systems
  • Expertise in ocean science
