Job DescriptionJob Details

Base pay starts at $30.00 per hour.

Day Shift: 6:00am to 4:30pm (Monday - Thursday)

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. The Maintenance Technician I - entry-level helper assists Level II and III technicians with equipment installations, repairs, or modification of equipment for generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy in the manufacturing facility.
  2. Knows and understands all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and about a manufacturing environment.
  3. Assists with repairing and installing a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, and circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems or other transmission equipment.
  4. Works with blue prints, drawings, layouts, verbal instructions and/or other specs.
  5. Uses all types of welding equipment, arc, acetylene, brazing, and flame cutting equipment.
  6. Diagnoses and corrects trouble in the electrical system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
  7. Performs visual and mechanical inspections required to keep machinery in good condition to produce a finished quality product to order specifications.
  8. Follows preventive maintenance program as established by the company and performs inspections of equipment and takes preventive action when necessary.
  9. Maintains buildings, performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
  10. Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating and ventilating equipment.
  11. Maintains continuous improvement efforts in work area.
  12. May be assigned additional projects or duties as designated by Team Leader.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or recognized equivalent.
  • Minimum of (2) two years related work experience in a maintenance mechanic function, or equivalent related experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend documents including but not limited to policy manuals, safety rules/programs, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and simple correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate information effectively one-on-one and in small group situations and settings.
  • Ability to perform general mathematic calculations including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, percentages, and division.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to perform work instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to solve problems, which involve multiple variables in a standard situation.
Work Environment

The employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

The employee is frequently required to walk.

The employee is frequently required to stand; sit; bend; stoop; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; lift; climb and/or balance essential tasks.

Specific vision abilities include close-up and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

The employee may be required to enter areas that are near moving mechanical parts, with occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals, and extreme cold or heat.

The noise level in the work environment is considered moderate, and may require the use of hearing protection.

The employee will be required to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when accessing certain manufacturing areas.
