Job Title: Principal Architect

At JLG Architects, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Architect to lead our team and drive project success. As a key member of our studio, you will be responsible for leading and engaging with clients and teams through all phases of the project delivery service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Expand client base through strategic pursuit targets set in collaboration with Practice Studio Leaders.
  • Act as an ambassador for JLG in the community and elevate JLG as the firm of choice for client pursuits.
  • Maintain a big-picture perspective, ensuring client goals for projects are accomplished and expectations are exceeded throughout the project.
  • Mentor staff and provide guidance throughout the process as necessary.
  • Ensure that the JLG process is followed for the betterment of the project and that each phase is properly closed out.
  • Remain connected with clients as sponsors, while maintaining JLG as the firm of choice.
  • Exceed expectations and secure recommendations for JLG.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor or Master of Architecture from an accredited university, current architectural licensure, and NCARB record, with a minimum of 10 years of professional post-licensure experience.
  • Evidence of successful project management and leadership for projects with a $30M+ construction budget to achieve project goals, budgets, and schedules.
  • 5 consecutive years of experience in a studio.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to gain client confidence, hold difficult conversations, and display confidence in public speaking and presentations.
  • Highly self-motivated problem-solver, with proven team leadership to mentor, empower, and grow staff.
  • Evidence of community stewardship, with the ability to create brand awareness and build relationships to win work.
  • Clear understanding of architectural business and construction processes to budget, plan, and deliver throughout a project.
  • Advanced knowledge of building code, science, and JLG processes/standards.
