Job Title: Transportation Supervisor

ADUSA Distribution is a leading transportation company providing services to a major grocery retail supply chain. Our team is dedicated to delivering fresh and nonperishable products to local brand stores while supporting sustainability by returning recyclable items to recycling centers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee department functions, associates, and meet production standards for receiving or shipping departments assigned.
  • Handle daily issues and projects under the direction of the Operations Manager.
  • Work with Distribution Center Departments, Transportation, and Inventory Management to ensure timely and safe product movement.
  • Hold associates accountable for providing high-quality products to retail and customers.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise day-to-day activities of department staff.
  • Supervise associate performance through performance planning, coaching, appraisal, and disciplinary efforts.
  • Assist in hiring, training, and developing new and existing associates.
  • Work with departments to ensure efficient and accurate inventory flow in and out of the distribution center.
  • Communicate with business partners and unload services to ensure they are fully staffed and supporting distribution operations.
  • Observe department staffing daily and make adjustments as needed.
  • Verify daily that associates are on Labor Management assignments.
  • Hold departmental meetings as expected.
  • Communicate and administer disciplinary action to associates who violate company policy.
  • Communicate with individuals/departments during the shift that may affect other warehouse departments.
  • Supervise associate time and attendance.
  • Efficiently lead associates toward attaining individual and combined goals through hands-on guidance.
  • Help meet department operational and budget goals.
  • Provide accurate reporting information to DC Leadership Team and others.
  • Provide project/task leadership as assigned.
  • Make recommendations for modifications to procedures or processes impacting their work group or center.
  • Ensure compliance with established standards in accuracy, safety, and productivity.
  • Aggressively pursue waste and inefficiencies in their operation.
  • Target potential improvements and work with teams to improve the working environment and product throughput.
  • Act as a change agent to drive lean education and utilization.
  • Play a key role in developing a Continuous Improvement mindset in operations to better serve customers and provide training for associates to support continuous improvement ideas.
  • Accountable for lean process sustainability within assigned operations.
Requirements:
  • Familiarity with a distribution environment.
  • Basic understanding of business financial reports and information.
Skills:
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective leadership skills.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution.
Abilities:
  • Ability to supervise or manage multiple tasks and shift priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate and complete required record-keeping functions.
  • Ability to articulate and align associates with department and business goals.
  • Ability to work in a -5 degree to 90+ degree Fahrenheit environment for long periods.
Education:
  • High School Education or equivalent.
  • Certified on powered industrial equipment where applicable.
Experience:
  • 1-3 years distribution warehouse experience.
