Position Overview: The Elementary Special Education Support Assistant plays a crucial role in delivering tailored educational programs for children with autism spectrum disorders and related challenges. This position is designed to foster academic, social, and life skills development in a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized instruction in a structured setting, ensuring consistent application of teaching strategies as guided by the lead educator.
  • Facilitate the acquisition of essential skills across various contexts, enabling students to apply their learning in real-world situations.
  • Utilize Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques to enhance skill development throughout the school day.
  • Deliver instruction through diverse methodologies, including task analysis, discrete trial training, and group activities, while adapting to each student's unique learning preferences.
  • Collaborate with the special education teacher and behavior analysts to implement personalized behavior and reinforcement plans.
  • Engage in regular meetings with support staff to evaluate student progress, curriculum effectiveness, and behavioral strategies.
  • Participate in district-sponsored training on safety and de-escalation techniques.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the educational environment.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in special education or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Compensation: Salary and benefits are in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement for instructional assistants.
