Job Description and Position Requirements

Penn State Beaver is seeking a part-time Technology Support Specialist to provide tier I technical support to faculty, students, and staff, to diagnose and resolve user issues in a timely manner, and to serve as a technology department point of contact for campus technical needs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Providing professional, first-tier customer service and technical support to users for hardware and software, audio/visual, and other campus technology.
  • Analyzing, researching, and resolving complex end-user technology issues; escalating as necessary.
  • Monitoring incidents through resolution and maintaining communication as required.
  • Installing, configuring, and testing installed hardware and software on new or existing devices, in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Collaborating with department colleagues on classroom and meeting spaces technology.
  • Training customers on new devices and technologies.
  • Initializing, maintaining, and troubleshooting applications, mobile devices, workstations, and servers.
  • Reviewing, updating, and maintaining documentation to ensure internal processes and procedures, workflows, and training manuals are current.
  • Initiating, tracking, and resolving support incidents and providing updates to management.
  • Assisting in tracking and maintaining hardware inventory.
  • Taking ownership of, managing, or collaborating on various IT department projects throughout the year.
  • Working with and acting as a team lead to student help desk employees.
  • Staying up to date with new technology and software.
  • Providing clear and concise instructions to users on how to resolve technical issues.
  • Keeping track of customer interactions and technical issues in a database, ticket system, or email.
  • Maintaining flexibility to cover shifts when other staff members may not be able to be in the office.

This position typically requires a High school Diploma and 3-4 years of related experience or an Associate's degree plus 2 years of related experience.

A valid US driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

Campus Security Crime Statistics
