Senior Broadband Technician

Position Overview:

The Broadband Specialist IV role within the Maintenance division at Mediacom Communications involves executing field technical operations to uphold the integrity of the HFC network from node to tap. Key responsibilities encompass regular maintenance and repair of the CATV distribution network and HSD systems, in addition to activating new distribution frameworks. The position also entails diagnosing and sustaining the trunk system during instances of equipment or power disruptions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform system diagnostics including signal/noise ratio, signal interference, and RF troubleshooting.
• Adjust trunk levels, replace trunk amplifiers, and assess signal loss calculations.
• Install electronic components, maintain power supply units, and utilize diagnostic tools.
• Identify and rectify issues within coaxial and fiber distribution networks.
• Generate project estimates and handle connectors and fasteners.
• Execute tasks typical of Broadband Specialists I-V and safely ascend poles using appropriate gear.
• Assist in the cleanup and recovery of materials while providing general support to colleagues.
• Engage in on-call responsibilities and undertake additional assigned tasks.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED is mandatory; an Associate's degree is preferred.
• Possession of a valid driver's license with a commendable driving history.
• A minimum of 6 months' experience as a Broadband Specialist III or over 5 years' experience as a cable technician.
• Certifications in Coaxial Construction, Electrical Fundamentals, and Proactive Network Maintenance are required.
• Familiarity with HFC infrastructure, commercial installations, and troubleshooting customer premise equipment.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude for splicing and the capability to work under various conditions and at heights.
