Kheir Clinic (FQHC) is seeking a highly organized and motivated Grant Writer/Development Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our development team, you will play a critical role in securing funding to support our mission to provide comprehensive healthcare and human services to underserved communities in Los Angeles.
Key Responsibilities- Research and develop innovative fundraising strategies and programs to support our mission.
- Write high-quality grant proposals, reports, and budgets to secure funding from government agencies, foundations, and corporate partners.
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement short-term and long-term development plans, including operating plans, budgets, and revenue projections.
- Drive annual plans for development activities, with a focus on corporate and foundation support and grants.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with donors, Board Members, volunteers, government and foundation representatives, and other stakeholders to nurture their connection to the organization.
- Identify potential sources of funding and revenue, and coordinate efforts to secure them.
- Track and monitor proposals, their deadlines, and requirements, and ensure timely submission.
- Update, record, and maintain electronic and hard copy client, donor, and administrative filing systems and databases, and acknowledge donations and gifts.
- Use data sources to run reports and write summaries of results for internal and external use.
- Prepare long-term and short-term projects, reports, correspondence, and other materials, following established guidelines and procedures.
- Coordinate special projects and new program development to promote increased awareness of Kheir in the community and among potential and existing donors.
- Research up-to-date healthcare issues and policies to incorporate into grant-writing and public relations materials.
- Support the organization's advocacy efforts and government affairs projects, including writing and requesting letters of support, collaborating with local elected officials' offices, and staying abreast of pending and passed legislation affecting Kheir's services.
- Write and prepare PR materials, including reports, fact sheets, newsletters, press releases, and donor and media packets.
- Develop and post content on Kheir's social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
- Plan and execute fundraising and public relations events, including the organization's annual fundraising dinner, donor receptions, press conferences, site visits with special guests, and selected community and outreach events for patients.
- Support the development of selected marketing collateral, including mass mailings to donors, partners, and community members.
- Provide general development and related administrative support as needed.
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Minimum 2 years of grant writing experience.
- Experience with HRSA or other federal grants preferred, but not required.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, including proofreading skills.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to write grants from concept to full proposal.
- Experience with developing and finalizing grant budgets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to efficiently prioritize duties and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- High energy level and ability to work effectively with a team.
- Initiative, self-motivation, and a strong work ethic.
- Commitment to producing accurate, organized, and high-quality work.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow and provide detailed instructions.
- Strong sense of judgment, discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Completion of DOJ background check.
- Valid CA Driver's License, auto insurance, current vehicle registration with clean records, and everyday access to a reliable vehicle.
- Availability for occasional evening and weekend events.
Kheir Clinic is a primary provider of critical in-language healthcare and human services support to the residents of Metro Los Angeles and its neighboring communities.
