Position Overview:

The Senior Accounting Specialist plays a vital role in assisting the Corporate Accounting Manager. The incumbent is tasked with the computation, classification, and recording of numerical data to ensure the accuracy of financial records. This position is responsible for executing monthly account reconciliations in a timely and precise manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct daily cash management and treasury functions by preparing and distributing cash reports to relevant stakeholders.
  • Record bank-related transactions in the general ledger on a daily basis.
  • Manage intercompany accounts receivable for incoming and outgoing wire transfers, including CAP payments against affiliate loans.
  • Review outstanding checks monthly and investigate checks that are over six months old, transferring unissued aged outstanding checks to the unclaimed funds account.
  • Examine existing unclaimed property schedules to ensure the accuracy of transaction compilations.
  • Reconcile assigned accounts monthly, preparing account reconciliations in Blackline by the 20th of the month for the previous accounting month.
  • Monitor and communicate open purchase orders weekly.
  • Review and communicate the accounts payable aging schedule on a weekly basis.
  • Log outgoing checks daily and distribute them to the appropriate parties.
  • Record NSF checks upon receipt and consistently follow up with management for collection.
  • Document monthly bank fees by the 2nd of the month.
  • Review vendor accrual schedules, ensuring accruals are reversed once invoices are received and paid.
  • Conduct month-end manual bank and intercompany reconciliations, communicating discrepancies with responsible parties.
  • Process credit card refunds and voided transactions within the Cenpos platform.
  • Adhere to federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Provide coverage and assistance to other accounting staff as needed.
  • Assist in preparing documents required for the fiscal year-end audit.
  • Support management with special projects and job-related functions as they arise.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school.
  • Relevant experience as an Automotive Store Accounting Clerk for three to five years may substitute for Associates degree requirements.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Professional email and telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to work effectively in team environments as well as independently.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and a high level of organization and flexibility.
  • Exhibit a positive demeanor towards colleagues.
  • Maintain a professional personal appearance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experienced in ADP/CDK Drive XL DMS.
