Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at St. Luke's University Health Network. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for performing laboratory tests, operating and maintaining laboratory instrumentation, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of laboratory results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory tests according to established protocols and procedures.
  • Operate and perform maintenance on laboratory instrumentation per established policies and procedures.
  • Perform quality control testing and document corrective action per established policy.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation with the aid of consulting technical services with proper documentation.
  • Follow established policies regarding accurate documentation of laboratory results in the laboratory information system, instrument records, and other quality assurance data.
  • Follow established policies regarding proper reporting and documentation of critical values.
  • Teach/train new employees.
  • Monitor inventory of supplies and order supplies as necessary.
  • Implement computer downtime procedures when necessary.
  • Perform and document a minimum of 5 CEU's annually.
  • Demonstrate competency in assigned areas of responsibilities.
  • Organize and prioritize daily workload in order to complete assigned tasks in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Handle multiple assignments as necessary, with an ability to adapt to changes.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with co-workers to promote a productive working environment.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills by conveying necessary information accurately, listening effectively and asking pertinent questions.
Requirements
  • An associate degree in medical laboratory technology.
  • ASCP eligible.
  • Successful completion of an accredited MLT program.
