Overview
- Responsible for the care and management of a designated group of patients during a specified timeframe, utilizing therapeutic interactions, the nursing process, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
- The provision of nursing care at Stormont Vail Health is influenced by Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring and the principles of Shared Governance, aligning with the organization's mission, vision, and values.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Preferred experience in a clinical environment.
Skills and Competencies
- Exhibits awareness and respect for the rights of patients and their families.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient in performing calculations necessary for medication administration and equipment calibration.
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Nurse - KSBN is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is necessary, with CPR or ACLS certifications potentially required based on departmental needs, to be obtained within 90 days of employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivers direct patient care in accordance with the state's nursing practice regulations.
- Develops a prioritized and goal-oriented care plan.
- Administers care competently, supporting a seamless continuum of care.
- Assesses the effectiveness of healthcare interventions in achieving desired outcomes.
- Actively engages in clinical education initiatives.
Working Environment
- Occasional exposure to combative patients: 1-3 hours.
- Risk of exposure to blood and bodily fluids: 1-3 hours.
