Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse, adhering to Nursing Policies and Procedures and Organizational Goals and Objectives.
  • Perform duties that support the operation of the nursing unit, prioritizing and organizing work effectively within assigned shifts.
  • Assist in the scrub role in assigned surgical procedures, demonstrating competency and adhering to aseptic and sterile technique.
  • Participate in the patient's plan of care under the direction of the RN, anticipating the needs of the surgeon and assistant during surgical procedures.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to minimize waste and improper utilization of supplies and materials.
  • Identify and utilize proper instrumentation and equipment for operative procedures, checking sterile supplies for packaging, integrity, sterility, and expiration dates.
  • Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts according to policy, instituting corrective actions when counts are incomplete.
  • Provide accurate care and handling of all specimens and cultures.
Requirements
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
  • Certified Surgical Technologist
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Graduate of Surgical technician program
