General Purpose

The Assistant Teacher plays a crucial role in facilitating engaging educational experiences and fostering a nurturing environment for children enrolled in the Day Care Program at Caring People Alliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the planning, execution, and supervision of educational activities within the classroom and during community outings, promoting the intellectual, emotional, and social development of each child.
  • Assist in creating and implementing diverse learning activities that equip children with essential skills and knowledge for their progression into formal schooling.
  • Maintain constant awareness of each child's whereabouts and needs throughout the Day Care Program.
  • Introduce foundational concepts in literacy, numeracy, and social skills, utilizing meal times as opportunities for learning and engagement.
  • Help prepare and organize classroom materials and displays to cultivate an optimal learning atmosphere.
  • Participate in the planning and coordination of educational field trips and accompany children during these excursions.
  • Contribute to the development of lesson plans and thematic activities in collaboration with the teaching staff.
  • Work closely with program administrators and colleagues to enhance child development strategies and outcomes.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to refine teaching practices and enhance classroom effectiveness.
  • Stay informed about available social and community resources to support families involved in the Day Care Program.
  • Identify and communicate any developmental or behavioral concerns regarding children to program management.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and progress records, assisting in the preparation of reports for program oversight.
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements pertaining to early childhood education and care.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Core Competencies
  • Strong understanding of early childhood education principles and child development.
  • Ability to assist in curriculum development and lesson planning.
  • Effective communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Proficient in maintaining accurate records and providing timely reports.
Qualifications
  • Valid Preschool Childhood Development Associate credential OR
  • Associate's Degree in any relevant field OR
  • Successful completion of the Highly Qualified Exam.
Additional Requirements
  • Physical ability to perform tasks associated with a daycare environment, including lifting and bending.
  • Compliance with overtime regulations as stipulated by the Fair Labor Standards Act.
