Job Summary:

Responsibilities:

  • Administer medically prescribed physical therapy treatment to patients with injuries or chronic health conditions.
  • Review physician referrals and patient medical records to determine treatment requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with charge nurses, co-workers, and physicians.
  • Enter and verify orders in the computer system.
  • Test and measure patient strength, motor development, sensory perception, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency.
  • Plan and prepare written treatment programs based on patient data.
  • Administer manual exercises, physical agents, and other treatments as prescribed.
  • Evaluate treatment effects and adjust treatments as needed.
  • Record treatment, response, and progress in patient charts.
  • Instruct patients and families in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
  • Orient, instruct, and direct work activities of assistants and aides.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited PTA program.
  • Current PTA license in good standing.
  • One year of experience as a PTA in a healthcare setting.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
