Job Title: Quality Control Manager

Turner Construction is seeking a highly skilled Quality Control Manager to join our team. As a Quality Control Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and developing project-specific Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) plans that incorporate policies and procedures necessary to deliver projects fully compliant with contract documents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the development and implementation of project-specific QA/QC plans in coordination with project teams, owners, architects, and contract documents.
  • Ensure sufficient, qualified specialized staff is assigned to provide required knowledge and experience to execute plans.
  • Maintain collaborative working relationships with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure project-specific QA/QC plans deliver fully compliant projects.
  • Lead, supervise, and develop all Turner QA/QC staff, including providing input on or completing performance appraisals.
  • Ensure strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements at all times.
  • Develop comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of contract documents, including Turner's contract, plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Develop engineering procedures, including document control, submissions management, creation and tracking of Requests For Information (RFIs), material samples, documentation, and tracking of potential cost changes.
  • Implement project-specific QA/QC plans in coordination with project safety plans.
  • Understand project execution plans and coordinate QA/QC procedures at appropriate stages of work, in line with project schedules.
  • Continually improve strategies and tools to efficiently and effectively document, track, and record compliance with contract documents.
  • Execute project-specific QA/QC plans in a manner that engages all project staff, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants.
  • Conduct testing and inspections and arrange for third-party testing and inspections. Analyze and report results.
  • Expand development of plans as projects progress, continually improving procedures.
  • Direct removal and replacement of, and document all non-compliant materials and/or workmanship. Document compliance after corrective work is completed prior to starting any subsequent work.
  • Research and apply additional QA/QC and Lean procedures to enhance quality of project delivery.
  • Oversight of project close-out and quality reports.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of eight (8) years' related quality control construction experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience and construction experience that bridges both field and engineering responsibilities.
  • Experience with airport construction projects is highly preferred.
  • QA/QC experience with electrical trades.
  • Knowledge of electrical equipment, plans, diagrams, specifications, and testing methods.
  • Experience inspecting electrical rough-in and equipment, highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the construction process means and methods, materials, their characteristics, installation procedures, and tolerances.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Turner's project management software and leadership skills.
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Proven leadership qualities and skills with the desire to teach and mentor staff.
  • May require QA/QC certification depending on specific projects.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
