Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medication Aide to join our team at Senior Lifestyle. As a Medication Aide, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by providing medication assistance and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the self-administration of medication for residents in compliance with federal and state regulations and Senior Lifestyle guidelines.
  • Count and verify narcotics with approved personnel before accepting medication keys and report any discrepancies to a supervisor.
  • Order necessary medication and treatments from pharmacies and notify the responsible party when supplies are low.
  • Verify the accuracy of received medication and notify the pharmacy and Director of Health and Wellness of any discrepancies.
  • Properly store medications and ensure that lotions, ointments, and liquids are stored separately from oral medications.
  • Conduct weekly inspections to ensure expired medications are removed and notify the supervisor of any discrepancies.
  • Verify MARs at changeover time and notify the supervisor of any discrepancies.
  • Remove discontinued medication from med carts and provide it to the supervisor.
  • Provide personal care to residents, including bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, and eating.
  • Provide general nursing care, including vital signs, temperatures, blood pressure, and weights.
  • Document information in the daily log and notify the supervisor of any concerns.
  • Answer calls and assist residents with needs as assigned.
  • Clean and restock medicine carts daily and perform a weekly deep cleaning.
  • Attend and participate in staff training and in-services.
  • Maintain accurate records, including preparation of medical charts for new admissions and readmissions, and ensure the medical record is complete within 48 hours.
Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Degree; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ months of experience in Senior Living preferred.
  • Current Medication Technician certification depending on state regulations.
  • Acceptable proficiency in English to perform job duties, communicate with supervisor and other employees, and respond to emergency situations.
  • Basic computer proficiency to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Superior time management skills.
  • Strong team player and a passion for helping seniors.
