Assistant Superintendent Role

The Assistant Superintendent is a critical role within the Mission Critical Center of Excellence. Responsible for planning and executing the construction program according to Suffolk's procedures, including safety, quality, and schedule, this position requires strong organizational skills, a sense of urgency, and excellent communication skills. The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the project team to ensure compliance with Contract Documents and will be responsible for administering Suffolk's Quality Management Program.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and distribute construction documents to the project team, including plans, specifications, RFIs, bulletins, and field reports.
  • Manage layout and verify the correctness of field dimensions.
  • Verify subcontractor layout to ensure compliance with established line and grade.
  • Administer Suffolk's Quality Management Program, including First Delivery and Benchmark Inspections.
  • Monitor job progress on-site and ensure compliance with Contract Documents.
  • Document daily construction activity using written reports, photographs, sketches, and other software tools.
  • Help create and distribute daily and weekly work plans to the project team.
  • Attend and participate in weekly and/or monthly meetings with customers and clients.
  • Compile and maintain all permits, testing, and inspections required for project completion and acceptance.
  • Assist in the administration of the Suffolk Safety Program.
  • Supervise and mentor Suffolk's Field Engineers.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in related construction fields.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Possess a strong sense of urgency.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills.

Working Conditions

The Assistant Superintendent will spend most of their time on-site, working in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking is required.
