About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineering Director to join our Enterprise People Technology team at Walmart. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of cloud-native distributed systems, microservices architecture, and software engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Influence, coach, and be a servant leader to multiple integration teams focused on transformative products within our People Technology space.
  • Builds strong and trusting relationships with business stakeholders, driving engagement, collaboration, and facetime beyond regular meetings.
  • Provide guidance on applying the right architectural pattern for modernizing applications, analyzing gaps between existing architecture and new business requirements.
  • Drive automation using CICD stage gates for applications, improving operational excellence.
  • Implement telemetry features based on domain requirements to enhance application performance.
  • Lead technical impact analysis, conduct RCAs with corrective actions for short and long-term fixes, and prevent re-occurrences.
  • Develop close partnerships with Product, People API, and Workday teams to drive innovation and deliver commitments to business customers.
  • Operate with excellence, managing KPIs, delivering results, presenting at all levels, and developing yourself and others.
  • Analyze system performance impacting the complete product for non-functional requirements like reliability, operability, performance efficiency, and security.
  • Develop strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce, diagnosing capability gaps, recruiting, selecting, and developing talent, supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning.
  • Cultivate an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics, integrating these values into all programs and practices, developing consequences for violations or non-compliance, and supporting the Open Door Policy.
Requirements
  • Deep working knowledge of cloud-native distributed system development, with Azure/GCP/WCNP preferred.
  • Technical proficiency in one or more languages such as Java, Python, React Native, Node JS, React JS, GraphQL.
  • Experience working on a compensation or total rewards platform.
  • Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
  • Experience in all areas of engineering, including DevOps, Chaos Engineering, SRE, and on-call rotations to assure service availability and operational excellence.
  • Experience managing software development engineers, leaders, architects, and leading engineering projects, guiding engineering teams on engineering excellence and solid system design.
  • Experience in 360 people management, growing and grooming teams, and ensuring the happiness and productivity of the team's software engineers.
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional project development and collaborating with other scrum teams, QA, Release Management, Program Management, and TechOps.

Eligibility and Benefits

For information about benefits and eligibility, see One.Walmart. The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include stock.
