Security Officer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team at Texas Health Resources. As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patrol buildings and grounds to prevent and detect unauthorized access.
  • Lock and unlock doors according to schedules and protocols.
  • Provide individual and group escorts to and from parking areas.
  • Identify and remove unauthorized individuals from property.
  • Enforce campus parking policies and cite violations.
  • Maintain compliance with security policies and procedures.
  • Pursue and detain persons involved in criminal activity.
  • Fill out incident and offense report forms and compose narratives.
  • Give directions to areas of the facility.
  • Interact with police, fire personnel, patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Provide vehicle assistance.
  • Patrol interior and perimeter of campus and parking.
  • Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities.
  • Escalate situations to the Threat Management team as appropriate.
  • Provide quality customer service to Texas Health employees, visitors, and guests.
  • Greets people with courtesy and respect using the 10/5 rule.
  • Provide directions and assistance to employees, visitors, and guests.
  • Provide general information regarding Texas Health campuses.
  • Provide transport and escorts to and from campus parking lots.
  • Respond timely to calls for service and emergency situations.
  • Assess the situation and utilize appropriate de-escalation measures.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills and provide the appropriate level of force for the situation.
  • Respond to and activate the appropriate emergency response code.
  • Interact with and provide assistance to Police, Fire, EMS, and other emergency staff as required.
Requirements:
  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Required.
  • Associate's Degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Security, or closely related field preferred.
  • 2 Years of security, law enforcement, or military police experience preferred.
  • 2 Years of healthcare or education experience preferred.
  • DL - Drivers License Class C and insurable upon hire required.
  • CSO - Commissioned Security Officer Texas Private Security Level 2 (not required if have Level 3) 14 Days required.
  • CSO - Commissioned Security Officer Texas Private Security Level 3 (2 attempts permitted). Biannual recertification required.
  • TASER Certification Complete Course & Certification (2 attempts permitted). Annual recertification required.
  • ACPI - Advanced Crisis Prevention Intervention Training maintained annually 30 Days required.
Skills:
  • Ability to make independent decisions with tact and mature/positive attitude.
  • Ability to assume responsibilities.
  • Ability to be cooperative, discreet, and courteous within scope of assigned authority.
  • Must possess the ability to physically defend and/or restrain people.
  • Must successfully complete a psychological evaluation.
