Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at the Texas Health & Human Services Commission. As a Direct Care Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who reside in our State Supported Living Centers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, treat, and document healthcare needs and/or issues for individuals in our care.
  • Communicate effectively with direct care staff, physicians, administration, and other nursing staff to ensure optimal care as part of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Notify supervisors and physicians of trends and concerns to ensure consistent, high-quality care for all individuals served.
  • Complete data entry, required documentation, and reports, and maintain accurate records.
  • Participate in facility quality assurance/quality improvement initiatives and respond to emergency situations to ensure safety and care of individuals and staff.
Requirements
  • Work experience as a practicing registered nurse is required.
  • At least six (6) months of experience as a practicing registered nurse in a health agency, hospital, or healthcare facility is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide, and Employee Misconduct and HHS OIG List of Excluded Individuals/Entities.
