Job Summary

The Salvation Army USA Southern Territory is seeking a Seasonal Support Worker to provide assistance to clients seeking holiday assistance at the Fredericksburg Corps. This is a temporary position that will run from October 14, 2024, to January 3, 2025.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide information to volunteers and donors
  • Schedule appointments and interview clients to determine eligibility
  • Perform accurate and complete computer data entry
  • Assist with sorting and moving donations and other materials into the warehouse
  • Process kettle worker and volunteer applications
  • Perform a variety of clerical support work, including routine typing, filing, and photocopying of reoccurring correspondence, forms, lists, logs, records, etc.
  • Answer the telephone and provide general information regarding the Service Center operations and/or services
Requirements
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Two years of general office and/or data entry experience in a customer service setting
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of computer data entry basics and key boarding
  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to respond to and screen callers and clients in a courteous and tactful manner
  • Ability to compile and summarize information
  • Ability to handle several tasks at the same time and work well under pressure
Working Conditions

The work environment is a normal office environment until the work is relocated to The Salvation Army's Christmas warehouse. The warehouse space has some minor physical discomforts associated with noise, dust, and dirt. The position involves moving about in the warehouse space where there are fluctuations in room temperature due to cold weather conditions and limited heat.
