Position Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides comprehensive accounting assistance to the Department Director, Service Area's Accounting Manager, and/or Controller across various fiscal and accounting activities.
  • Reviews and monitors expenditures for designated programs to ensure financial integrity.
  • Ensures the prompt and precise submission of cash receipts, deposits, journal entries, program billings, and in-kind reports, adhering to agency and programmatic policies, professional standards, and external regulatory requirements.
  • Oversees the reconciliation of revenue and receivables within the general ledger during month-end closing processes.
  • Conducts financial data analysis, formulates financial projections, and communicates findings to the Department Director, Accounting Manager, service area Controller, and program staff.
  • Acts as the primary contact for various funders and/or auditors, collaborating with supervisory personnel as necessary.
  • May manage petty cash for assigned programs, as applicable.
  • Investigates and resolves account discrepancies, making necessary recommendations and adjustments.
  • Reconciles variances, processes Agency credit card transactions, compiles supporting documentation, and prepares monthly journal entries to allocate costs effectively.
  • Collaborates with program staff, internal departments, and external partners to address and resolve accounting issues.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to kneel and transition between sitting, bending, kneeling, or standing multiple times throughout the day.
  • Capability to push and pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to climb up to 7 flights of stairs at a time.
  • Capacity to lift up to 25 pounds.

Additional Requirements:

  • Compliance with program and/or Agency requirements, including background checks, physical examinations, drug testing, TB testing, and possession of a valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
  • Adherence to Agency-specified automobile insurance requirements.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, or special events as needed.

Supervision:

  • Immediate Supervisor: Department Director, Accounting Manager, or Service Area Controller.
  • Directly Supervises: N/A
  • Indirectly Supervises: N/A

Education and Experience:

  • Preferred Education: Associate's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma.
  • Preferred Experience: 7+ years in accounting roles.
  • Minimum Experience: 5+ years in accounting roles.
