Superintendent - Petrochemical Operations

We are seeking a highly experienced Superintendent to join our team at Stronghold Specialty, Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing on-site coordination for all phases of our projects, including coordinating subcontractors, materials, and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
The Superintendent will be responsible for:
- Overseeing project execution from cradle to grave
- Managing day-to-day costs and ensuring that respective personnel are capturing all changes required on the project
- Reviewing project proposals and plans to determine time frames, funding limitations, and procedures for accomplishing the project
- Establishing work plans and staffing for each phase of the project and arranging for recruitments or assignments of project personnel
- Coordinating work efforts between various subcontractors
- Conferencing with project staff to outline work plans and assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of work authority
- Monitoring project status and making any necessary modifications to schedules or plans as required
- Preparing and reviewing project reports for management, clients, and staff
- Conferencing with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems
- Reviewing all paperwork, including payroll time sheets, service receipts, and employee evaluations
- Maintaining shops and equipment in order
- Pursuing the use of new methods and technologies to increase profits without sacrificing company quality and integrity standards
- Ensuring the overall safety of the project and providing a safe work environment for all personnel
- Demonstrating excellent relational skills with customers, subcontractors, and subordinates
- Leading rescue operations as a team leader
- Following all company safety, quality control/quality assurance procedures and processes, and OSHA guidelines
- Understanding and articulating mechanical concepts, including drawings
- Maintaining poise and focus under time constraints and adverse conditions
- Attending and completing trainings as required by the company and clients
- Passing all required drug/alcohol testing and background requirements
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent and 4 years of managerial experience, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience in a related industry or equivalent job experience
- A Class A driver's license and a clean MVR
- Preferred qualifications include 6 years of managerial experience and at least 4 years of supervisory experience in a related industry or equivalent job experience, as well as First Aid and CPR training
Work Environment
This position operates in a petrochemical/refinery environment, with exposure to cold working conditions during winter months and hot working conditions during summer months. The employee must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and be able to climb ladders and stairways. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent travel throughout the U.S. and overnight stays for extended periods of time.
