Customer Service Representative

This role is responsible for delivering timely and accurate information to internal and external customers, representing Dayton Superior externally and being the customer advocate internally.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive, price, and return requests for quotations within defined criteria.
  • Perform routine follow-up to determine success or failure, track competitive market information (backlog, pricing, competitor backlog).
  • Obtain necessary information from customers to enter orders.
  • Enter and/or review all orders entered.
  • Make any and all necessary changes and updates to orders.
  • Enter won quotations in tracking systems to provide visibility to backlog and forecasts.
  • Obtain accurate material requirements delivery schedules from customers and provide that information to scheduling.
  • Provide influence and control over customer expectations regarding our ability to meet specific demands.
  • Obtain product lead times from necessary parties and provide to customers within defined criteria.
  • Work with purchasing to obtain pricing from outside vendors.
  • Provide realistic forecasts and delivery requirements to purchasing based on information retrieved from customers.
  • Maintain accurate forecasts regarding orders to be received from purchasing to cover raw material demand.
  • Provide accurate delivery schedules to traffic far enough in advance for trucks to be secured.
  • Communicate information to shipping regarding what product to ship on each truck.
  • Secure all information necessary for proper dispatch (location, job contact, hours).
  • Build a strong positive relationship with customers by demonstrating value, initiative, position, influence, and supporting Dayton Superior.
  • Obtain a level of communication with customers that allows access to all levels within their organization and provides a mutual respect for those involved.
  • Understand and assist in meeting both cash gap and earnings targets.
  • Obtain, understand, and relay all DOT specifications for products supplied within specified geographic regions.
  • Provide internal and external customers with that information as needed.
  • Revise and provide product drawings and submittal information to customers as needed.
  • Be familiar with all AASHTO and ASTM specifications regarding products, or where and how to find the information.
  • Have a firm understanding of logistical capabilities primarily LTL & flatbed loading, timing, and distribution capabilities.
Requirements:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple priorities.
  • MS Office proficiency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good math skills.
  • Bachelor's degree highly preferred in a related field.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in a related field.

Inside average office environment.
