Job Description

The Mobility Technician will play a crucial role in enhancing patient care quality by utilizing the Bedside Mobility Assessment Tool (BMAT) completed by nursing staff, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. This position offers a unique opportunity to work collaboratively with clinical teams to optimize patient mobility.

  • Conduct a triage of patients on assigned units to prioritize and identify suitable candidates for mobility interventions during their shift.
  • Select appropriate equipment and methods for patient transfer and mobility after considering factors such as patient ability, weight, cooperation, height, special circumstances, and mobility goals per BMAT level per nursing.
  • Independently perform basic exercises, ROM, bed mobility, ambulation, transfers, and utilize lift equipment to promote out-of-bed activities.
  • Assist therapists and/or nursing staff with mobility-associated tasks guided by nursing BMAT, MD activity orders, and patient progress/participation with skilled rehabilitation services.

Requirements

We are seeking candidates with BCLS certification or obtain within first three months of employment. The ideal candidate should possess basic computer skills, ability to learn and use DUHS computer system programs, knowledge of therapy principles, techniques, methods, and modalities, and proper application. Additionally, the candidate should have knowledge of skeletal biomechanics, functional anatomy, and physiology.
