Ultrasound Imaging Specialist

At Atrium Health Navicent, we are seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team. As an Ultrasound Technologist, you will be responsible for performing all duties associated with the acquisition, processing, and submission of ultrasound images for interpretation. You will also be responsible for the care of patients while in the ultrasound department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Positions patients and selects appropriate protocols to demonstrate anatomy of interest based on accepted general ultrasound principles.
- Judges diagnostic quality of finished medical images and processes preliminary reports and/or worksheets prior to submission to physicians for interpretation.
- Customizes each patient exam based on accepted ultrasound/sonography principles to optimize diagnostic value of each specific imaging encounter.
- Reviews all diagnostic ultrasound requests for appropriateness based on clinical information provided.
- Provides relevant patient history and/or codes for all ultrasound procedures based on facility requirements.
- Performs clerical responsibilities associated with acquisition, processing, and archiving of patient records.
- Offers detailed explanations of diagnostic procedures to patients prior to exams and answers questions as appropriate.
- Observes patients while in the ultrasound department for changes in status and makes appropriate interventions or contacts primary caregivers for instruction.
- Identifies and corrects problems as necessary with all critical occurrences reported to the next level of authority.
- Maintains all required continuing education and applicable certifications as an ultrasound technologist.
Requirements:
- Must be a High School or GED diploma graduate.
- Graduate of AMA-approved school of radiologic technology, vascular, or cardiovascular ultrasound program, or a BS in Ultrasound.
- Registry eligible through ARDMS or ARRT. Registry required within one year of employment.
