Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports, ensuring all closing and reconciliation activities are accurately completed for post-acute healthcare.
  • Analyze and prepare financial statements in compliance with GAAP, focusing on healthcare and non-profit standards.
  • Oversee medical billing/accounts receivable, accounts payable for medical/patient services, and payroll reconciliation processes.
  • Act as the final escalation point for any issues related to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll.
  • Possess knowledge of billing processes for nursing homes, home health services, palliative care, hospice, and Medicare Part A and Part B.
  • Review all month-end closing procedures, including general ledger management, bank reconciliations, investments, fixed assets, prepaids, debt, and other balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare and record all donor and pledge income, ensuring compliance with permanent restrictions and programmatic designations.
  • Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and controls.
  • Coordinate the development and monitoring of budgets, comparing budgeted figures to actual performance.
  • Stay informed on best practices for non-profit audits and relevant state and federal regulations regarding non-profit operations.
  • Facilitate the annual audit process and ensure accurate filing of tax returns (non-profit 990) with external CPA firms.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements concerning financial functions, including annual filings with DHHS, state Medicaid, IRS form 5500, and other compliance reports.
  • Prepare and enter journal entries into the general ledger.
  • Conduct financial analyses to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Assist in the formulation and execution of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior accounting personnel.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA certification is advantageous
- At least 5 years of experience in healthcare accounting or a related field
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP principles and practices
- Familiarity with the CYMA accounting system is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and various accounting software systems
- Experience with full-accrual accounting and financial statement preparation, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements from any accounting system
- Understanding of tax regulations and compliance requirements in healthcare
- Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
