Job Summary

The Shop Manager plays a critical role in the safe and efficient day-to-day management of our shop. This includes overseeing administrative functions, supervising personnel, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure a safe and efficient work environment, with a focus on team and leadership skills.
  • Supervise personnel, including hiring, training, evaluating, and assisting employees with work-related issues.
  • Coordinate in-service of new trucks and trailers, and provide regular reports to management.
  • Provide daily reports on out-of-service equipment, and communicate with management regarding operational requirements.
  • Respond to driver issues, and generate maintenance reports and verify data.
  • Assist vendors with invoices and other issues, and review all repair orders.
  • Maintain accurate parts and tire inventory, ensuring efficient and cost-effective maintenance and service.
  • Ensure OSHA and environmental compliance, and diagnose engine management and fuel injection component problems.
  • Perform daily fleet inspections, and issue roadworthiness certificates or list required work.
  • Responsible for floor-level operations, equipment inventory, and fuel island functions.
  • Ensure quality control, and inspect reseated trucks.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities at Dedicated Accounts, and meet with staff to ensure consistency with company policy and procedure.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in shop or working with trucks.
  • Valid driver's license, with Class A CDL preferred.
  • Qualified inspector of Equipment Annual Inspection, and Brake Inspector, as defined under FHWA.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to effectively communicate written and verbally.
  • Understanding of all maintenance sections of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy and energy.
  • Demonstrated understanding of corporate tire program, and diagnostic computer skills for Freightliner, International, Paccar, and Cummins.
  • Knowledge of Maintenance Management Software, and P and L preferred.
