Senior Software Development Engineer, Benefits Expertise

Benefits Experience and Technology (BXT) builds a workplace for Amazonians to invent and deliver on behalf of customers by supporting employees' financial, education, health, and wellness needs with benefits that optimize value and are easy to discover, enroll, and access.
As a member of the Benefits tech team, you will work to build tools to help improve our benefits administration process that will look to make the benefits experience more seamless for Amazonians.
As a senior SDE on the team, you will be responsible for leading the development and launch of core services and product features for the Benefits Tech platform.
You will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define these product features, drive the system architecture, and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality product.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about new opportunities and has a demonstrable track record of success in delivering new features and products.
A commitment to team work, hustle, and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are absolute requirements.
Creating reliable, scalable, and high performance products requires exceptional technical expertise, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science, and practical experience building large-scale distributed systems.
This person has thrived and succeeded in delivering high quality technology products/services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift fast.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and launch of core services and product features for the Benefits Tech platform.
- Help define product features, drive system architecture, and spearhead best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality technology products/services.
- Develop and maintain technical expertise in software development, architecture, and engineering.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems experience.
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
