Role Overview

In the capacity of Head of Security Engineering, you will oversee the team responsible for developing our security framework and ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. This team will collaborate closely with various departments to guarantee a top-tier, secure, and compliant product.

Your responsibilities will include the ongoing evaluation of Samsung Ads's security posture against industry benchmarks and best practices, along with providing actionable recommendations for enhancements across the organization to mitigate security vulnerabilities in all pertinent areas.

As a key leadership figure within Samsung Ads, you will work in tandem with internal engineering leaders and Security divisions across other Samsung functions, including our headquarters. You will have the opportunity to strategize and implement plans that support the organization in achieving specific business goals.

The ideal candidate possesses profound technical expertise in security industry best practices and the capability to assess and enhance the security posture of Samsung Ads. They should also be adept at communicating effectively across all management levels to highlight risks, report on key performance indicators, and discuss forthcoming initiatives. Additionally, you will manage a team of security engineers distributed globally.

You will collaborate with exceptionally skilled and passionate developers who have a robust technical background to deliver products and services to a market characterized by unique technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical leader and manage security initiatives from conception through to production implementation.
  • Lead and coordinate a team of globally distributed engineers and drive project execution.
  • Develop and communicate a technical roadmap in partnership with our engineering platform teams and HQ Security.
  • Oversee the assessment and validation of all third-party vendors, both new and existing, concerning their information security policies and practices.
  • Formulate and refine a comprehensive vision and strategy for security engineering projects to align with specific business and technological requirements.
  • Assess and integrate cybersecurity tools and platforms to identify and mitigate security threats.
  • Comprehend security risks and their implications for business continuity, effectively communicating these to leadership.
  • Stay informed about emerging security technologies and evaluate their appropriate application within business operations.
  • Work towards establishing and promoting security standards, processes, and guidelines that enhance our security posture.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring an information security program.
  • Over 10 years of experience in a security engineering or related role, with a minimum of 4 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Experience in recruiting and managing teams (global experience preferred).
  • Strong understanding of securing applications both pre and post-deployment.
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration with legal, operational, technical, and third-party teams.
  • Proven ability to enable development teams to adopt a security-first mindset and approach.
  • Extensive experience with a variety of security systems across defense, scanning & testing, monitoring & alerting, incident management, and more.
  • Solid understanding of modern cloud architecture, including AWS, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code.
  • Familiarity with information security management frameworks such as ISO 27001, CIS 20, or NIST, SOC2.
  • Strong understanding of key data protection regulations, including GDPR and CCPA.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication skills in English are essential.
  • Fluency in Korean is an advantage.
