Job Summary

The Food Service Worker is a critical role in our healthcare organization, responsible for preparing and delivering patient meals while providing exceptional customer service. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital part in ensuring the health and well-being of our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare daily salads and desserts for patients, cafeteria, and catering functions.
  • Deliver and set-up salad and dessert stations for daily lunch meal.
  • Assure that tray line begins on time and proper portions are served per diet order.
  • Support patient meal/snack service by ensuring tray line begins on time and proper portions are served per diet order.
  • Deliver meals with minimal delays and provide patient assistance with tray set up.
  • Collect meal trays from patient bedside according to established time periods.
  • Operate cash register accurately entering all cash and charge sales.
  • Collect and verify cash register bank as well as deliver and verify daily cash deposits to accounting.
  • Daily set-up cafeteria for meal service, stocking paper goods, re-stocking chips, crackers, juices, milk, and condiments.
  • Sweep and mop daily, wipe down dining room tables, chairs, and booths daily.
  • Assist with daily preparation of food items per prep and production sheet.
  • Pre-prepare all food items per preparation and production sheets for patient and cafeteria meal service for next day.
  • Serve on tray line in assigned position. Perform tasks to facilitate work flow on tray line.
  • Follow all guidelines for proper cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and utensils.
  • Strip carts and trays; sort and rinse dishes and silverware.
  • Load, operate, and unload dishwasher.
  • Check dish machine temperature.
  • Collect and dispose of trash and debris into proper facility waste receptacles.
  • Adhere to 'clean as you go' principles.
  • Understand and be able to demonstrate knowledge of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) principles.
  • Perform adjustments to work assignments as necessary to achieve efficient and effective unit operation.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred but not required.
  • One year of job-related prior experience required.
  • Food Handler certificate required.
  • Serve safe or TAP food handler certification required.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish is helpful.
  • Ability to provide daily service to customers.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of computers.
  • Able to read and write in order to communicate ideas and information to others.
  • Able to operate foodservice equipment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of food safety and sanitation principles.

This role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for prolonged periods, and push, bend, stretch, and walk at least one hour. The successful candidate will also have excellent communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Estimated Salary: $38,000 - $45,000 per year, depending on location and experience. This is a non-exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Employees in non-exempt positions are entitled to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a workweek in accordance with state and federal regulations.
