Job Title: Maintenance Electrician

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Electrician to join our team at Hawaiian Electric Company. As a Maintenance Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, cleaning, and maintaining electrical equipment in generating stations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Test and locate electrical faults on control, power, and lighting circuits
  • Test, maintain, and adjust automatic remote control and similar devices
  • Dismantle and inspect generators, motors, circuit breakers, and similar equipment
  • Install conduit, pull in conductors, and make connections
  • Service exciter and collector ring brushes, inspect and change taps on transformers, and check connections
  • Remove bearings on electrical auxiliaries for inspection, clean entire assembly, and reassemble for service
  • Adjust disconnect switch contacts, service circuit breaker operating mechanism, and make breaker trip tests
  • Service voltage regulators and work in vicinity of voltage up to and including 11 kv
  • Start diesels as required for maintenance purposes
  • Erect rigging, operate bridge crane, and perform general maintenance such as painting
  • Install electrical equipment and apparatus for new capital construction projects, in addition to modifications or additions to existing plants
  • Direct the work of lower classified personnel on any or all of the above operations
Requirements:
  • Ability to identify and distinguish different colors and color hues
  • Graduate of Electrician Apprentice Program or equivalent training and experience
  • Must pass Company Written Job Knowledge Test (Journeyman, 1st yr.)
  • Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver's license
Work Environment:

This position is located at the MECO Maalaea Generating Station – Maui. The work schedule is Monday – Friday, with work hours from 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
