Early Head Start Program

Our Early Head Start initiative is designed to support children aged 0 to 5 and their families, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills and confidence for a successful transition into formal education. We offer comprehensive health services, including screenings, immunization management, nutrition assessments, and mental health evaluations, to promote the overall well-being of enrolled children.

Role Summary

The Co-Teacher will create a nurturing environment for children aged 2-3 years, facilitating their social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development through diverse activities tailored to their developmental stages. The primary objective is to foster social competence among the children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging activities that promote holistic development in children.
  • Execute the educational curriculum for both morning and afternoon sessions, planning individual and group activities that encourage learning and parental involvement.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators and Family Advocates to integrate various support services into the learning experience.
  • Conduct daily planning, maintain accurate records of children's progress, and submit required documentation punctually.
  • Observe and assess children's developmental milestones, setting individualized goals to meet their unique needs.
  • Design a program that enhances parental engagement as primary educators.
  • Create a culturally responsive learning environment that reflects the diverse backgrounds of the children.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the physical environment.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary to support the program's mission.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a background check, including fingerprint clearance and verification of personal and professional references.
  • Current TB clearance within six months of employment.
  • Ability to interact effectively with children in a dynamic environment, including the capacity to lift up to 50 lbs and respond quickly to children's needs.
  • Reliable transportation is essential.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 24 units in Child Development/Early Childhood Education, including at least 6 units focused on infant/toddler care.

Experience:

  • Prior experience working with young children is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with the requisite Child Development units.
  • Possession of an Associate Teacher Child Development Permit or higher.
  • At least one year of teaching experience.
  • Familiarity with creative curriculum approaches.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is advantageous.
