Behavioral Therapist

The Behavioral and Community Support Therapist plays a vital role in providing clinical intervention and treatment services to clients and their families in their homes and community-based settings. This position requires a strong understanding of behaviorally based and trauma-informed treatment models, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with clients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate mental and behavioral health habilitation and rehabilitation through skill-building, community support, and behavior management programming.
- Direct skill-building groups for children, adolescents, and teens on topics such as communication, activities of daily living, social skills, vocational skills, self-esteem, and advocacy.
- Support parents and caregivers in addressing the specific needs of their children using evidence-based strategies, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
- Collaborate with other members of the Community-Based Clinical Services team to understand, guide, and facilitate services and goals contained in clients' assessments and treatment plans.
- Coordinate with and establish working relationships with clients' collateral contacts, including educational, medical, social, recreational, and family supports.
- Assist in reviewing assessments and treatment plans every 180 days to assess client functioning, progress toward goals, and service recommendations.
- Respond to client-related crises by helping to mitigate crisis, safety plan, and promote stabilization within the home and community.
- Record/document and compile all required behavioral and skill-acquisition data accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Document service provision accurately, in a timely manner, and in accordance with Medicaid Rule 140 guidelines, within the agency's electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Ensure that all services are provided in accordance with informed consent, maintenance of client rights, standards of confidentiality, and are consistent with agency procedures, accreditation bodies, and Medicaid Community Behavioral Health Services guidelines.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related human service field, or a bachelor's degree in any field with two years' supervised clinical experience in a mental health setting. Experience using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles is preferred. The candidate must be capable of transporting children and traveling to homes within a 40-mile radius, possessing a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and current auto insurance.
Work EnvironmentThe Behavioral and Community Support Therapist will work in a typical office environment, with occasional travel to clients' homes and community-based settings. The physical demands of the job include sitting for prolonged periods, frequent walking, standing, grasping, lifting, holding, or feeling objects, and occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
