Job Summary:

The Residential Mental Health Therapist is a vital member of our interdisciplinary team, providing individual, group, and family therapy to adolescents in our care. This role requires a strong understanding of behavioral interventions and the ability to work collaboratively with the team to ensure successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and monitor behavioral aspects of interdisciplinary treatment plans in conjunction with the child's attending physician.
2. Perform social service screening, psychosocial assessment, and discharge planning assessment on each patient within 72 hours of admission.
3. Develop a plan of care for behavioral health treatment to be included as part of the interdisciplinary treatment plan.
4. Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the EMR and as otherwise assigned.
5. Interact with children and families warmly, empathetically, and acceptingly.
6. Coordinate with the case manager and physician to facilitate family conferences upon admission and for discharge planning.
7. Work closely with clinical disciplines on family education before discharge.
8. Assist the team in determining the appropriate level of care needed for the child upon discharge.
9. Communicate discharge barriers to the team to ensure early intervention.
10. Educate internal staff members about behavioral interventions, effective communication, and interpersonal strategies for caring for individuals with behavioral dysregulation.
11. Present a professional image when representing the facility.
12. Participate in marketing to the community and educating surrounding hospitals in coordination with the marketing team.
13. Participate in ongoing program development meetings to assess current programs' efficacy and make recommendations for treatment fidelity.

Requirements:

Education:

A Master's degree in a counseling-related field is required.

Experience:

Training and experience in developing, training, implementing, and monitoring written behavioral programs are essential. A minimum of two years of experience working in a residential treatment center setting is preferred, as well as a minimum of two years of clinical work experience with adolescents.

Licensure/Certification:

A current license in counseling/social work field from the state of Texas (LPC, LPCA, LCSW, LMSW) is required. Certification in CPR/BLS or training within 30 days of hire is also necessary. SAMA certification within 30 days of employment is required, and a current tuberculosis test must be obtained within the first 14 days of employment and annually thereafter.
