About the Position

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a skilled Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team at the Dauphin County Maintenance Organization. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our diverse fleet of construction machinery, trucks, cars, and hand tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct analytical assessments, preventive maintenance, and repair tasks for a wide range of equipment
  • Operate on both gasoline and diesel engines, ensuring optimal performance and reliability
  • Work collaboratively with our team to identify and resolve equipment issues
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and maximize equipment lifespan
Requirements
  • Successful completion of the Commonwealth's Diesel and Heavy Equipment Mechanic Trainee program
  • Two years of journey-level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training
Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License
  • Valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
