Job Summary:

ThedaCare Medical Center Waupaca is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our perioperative team. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality patient care and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare operating rooms for procedures by setting up sterile tables, checking equipment, and ensuring a safe environment for patients.
  • Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during procedures, passing instruments and supplies as needed.
  • Identify and handle specimens, transporting them to pathology as directed.
  • Participate in the transfer of patients to and from the operating room, ensuring efficient and safe patient care.
  • Clean and maintain operating rooms, instruments, and equipment according to regulatory standards and policies.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of a surgical technologist training program.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required for Cath Lab positions.

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and communicable diseases.
  • Frequent exposure to sharp objects, instruments, and hazardous materials.
  • Occasional high noise levels and exposure to moving mechanical parts.

Schedule:

This is an on-call only position, requiring availability within a 45-minute radius during designated hours. The position is guaranteed 40 hours of paid base hourly rate, regardless of call case volume. Additional on-call hours are paid at the on-call rate.
